What to Expect
We believe that support should meet you where you are, especially in the tender days of early parenthood. Here’s how we’ll care for you and your baby every step of the way.
Home Consults:
We’ll arrive to your home with a medical-grade pediatric scale, feeding tools (like nipple shields, bottles, or pumping accessories), and everything needed to provide full feeding support. There’s no need to tidy up! Choose any room where you feel comfortable.
Please note: If you have pets, kindly place them in another room. And to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone, we kindly ask that you avoid using air fresheners or plug-ins before our consult. Thank you for understanding!
Office Consults:
In-office consults follow the same structure as home consults, with all feeding tools and pillows provided. If your baby is bottle-feeding, please bring the milk you’re using. We kindly ask that strollers remain in your car, as our space is limited and we want you to be comfortable during your visit.
Before Your Consult
Required forms must be completed before your appointment. For legal and safety reasons, consults cannot begin until these are signed.
Self-pay clients: Payment is due 24 hours before your appointment. Any applicable travel fees will be included.
If you want to use your health insurance, complete your benefits verification at least 48 hours before your consult to confirm coverage. If insurance isn't confirmed 24 hours prior, the full consult fee will be automatically charged. (Refunds are issued if approval is received afterward.)
Try to time your baby's hunger so they’re ready to feed about 15 minutes into our consult. A small “appetizer” feed beforehand is perfectly fine if needed.
Jot down any questions you'd like to cover. We’re happy to answer them all!
During Your Consult
Whether we’re in your home or in the office, here’s what our time together will look like:
We’ll start by sanitizing hands and review your intake form, discuss your goals, and create a safe space to address any concerns.
Baby will be undressed to a dry diaper for accurate weighing.
We’ll weight check baby on a medical-grade pediatric scale (breastfed babies weighed in grams and pounds; bottle-fed babies in pounds only).
If breastfeeding, we’ll observe a full feeding session with pre/post weights.
If bottle-feeding, we’ll feed your baby to assess bottle-feeding skills.
We’ll evaluate baby’s oral motor function and assess for tongue, lip, and buccal ties, along with any oral motor challenges as appropriate or as requested by the parent.
You’ll receive personalized guidance and evidence-based recommendations throughout your consult.
After Your Consult
A summary of your consult with evaluations, recommendations, and images (if taken) will be delivered to your secure client portal within 24–48 hours.
Referrals to other providers (if needed) will also be sent within this timeframe.
Messaging support between consults is always available through your client portal.
We’ll update your care team, including pediatricians, midwives, or other providers, as needed, so everyone is aligned in supporting you.
Follow-Up Consults:
Follow-ups are an essential way to stay supported through every stage of your feeding journey. These consults are ideal for:
Ongoing breastfeeding or bottle-feeding concerns
Pumping and flange fitting
Plugged ducts or mastitis
Weighted feeds
Returning to work
Re-lactation
Introducing the Bebe Munchee device
Starting solids
Follow-ups mirror the structure of the initial consult and last about one hour.
